Alas Purwo

Alas Purwo National Park is one of representative ecosystem types lowland rain forest on the island of Java.
Distinctive and endemic plants in the Park are kecik sapodilla (Manilkara kauki) and bamboo manggong (Gigantochloa manggong). Other plants are ketapang (Terminalia cattapa), nyamplung (Calophyllum inophyllum), bulging (Sterculia foetida), keben (Barringtonia asiatica), and 13 species of bamboo.

Alas Purwo National Park is the habitat of some wildlife such as the langur monkey (Trachypithecus auratus auratus), banteng (Bos javanicus javanicus), ajag (Cuon alpinus javanicus), peacock (Pavo muticus), jungle fowl (Gallus gallus), deer (Cervus timorensis russa), leopard (Panthera pardus melas), and mangrove cat (bengalensis Prionailurus javanensis). Endangered and protected animals such as turtles cracked (Lepidochelys olivacea), leatherback (Dermochelys coriacea), hawksbill (Eretmochelys imbricata) and green turtle (Chelonia mydas) is usually often landed on the South coast of the national park in January s / d September.

In Physiographic Alas Purwo National Park consists of 4 units of landforms, namely, fluvial landforms, organic landforms, marine landforms and karst landforms. Fluvial landforms occupy the western part of the Gulf region extending up to the beach pangpang triangulated. Organic landforms occupy the edge of a national park, is divided into two areas of mangrove and coral reef with an area that can not be ascertained because of its highly dynamic mainly influenced by ocean tides. Marin landforms occupy the edges associated with organic landforms, divided into 5 different formations namely Bura, tidal plains, Lagun, shoals and Gerong gisik ocean (marine notch). Karst landforms occupy most of the region, ranging from Mount Sembulungan, Purwo Tanjung, Tanjung Banyubiru offerings are and the Gulf, is divided into three main formations; terkarstifikasi limestone hills early, young terkarstifikasi limestone hills and limestone hills terkarstifikasi adults.
